In many shamanic, eastern, and mysticism-rooted traditions, it is said that the most potent way to discover how to live wisely is by learning how to die, psycho-spiritually, thousands of times. In this way, death is considered one of life's greatest teachers, and perhaps the most sacred mystery and initiatory passage of all time.
In Western civilizations, the loss of meaningful practices and rituals around grief, death, and ancestral reverance, has translated to a growing fear around the inevitability of impermanence - re-enforcing the globally widespread diseases of separation, disconnection, and destruction.
Turning towards the reality of our own death, metabolizing our losses, and fortifying the connection to our ancestors encourages us to enter the holy terrain of this one precious life we have each been gifted with.

Death Wisdom is a profound journey into the mysteries of existence and beyond, calling forth courageous and humble seekers who wish to enter into a ceremonial temple of contemplation on the cycles of life, death, and regeneration.
Death Wisdom is an exploration of both our suffering and our liberation as human beings, inviting a deepening and expanding of the tender-heart within and the awake-mind that Is.
Death Wisdom is for those who are devoted to being the transformation they long to see in the world, willing to face death and impermanence - their own and of others - with awareness, and walk their path in kinship with the Great Mystery.
BEFRIENDING DEATH, Cherishing LIFE
Death Wisdom is an immersive ritual, ceremonial, and contemplative doorway, inviting you to radically turn toward one of the great realities of our human existence—death—and to discover what becomes possible when we allow its presence to more fully inform the way we live. Throughout our time together, we will enter into grief ritual, sacred medicine ceremonies, contemplations on our mortality and impermanence, ancestor-honoring practices, and family constellations processes that invite us into fully inhabiting the lives we have been given. We will approach both death and life as profound teachers and sources of wisdom—allowing our relationship with endings, losses, and the inevitability of our own dying to illuminate how we will choose to live and participate in this life.
We will take you on a journey of:
✾ Andean Wisdom Transmissions & Haywarikuy (offerings to Pachamama). Guided by our elder teachers from the Q’ero tradition, you will be introduced to the Andean cosmovision, including the use of the sacred plant, Mama Coca. We will open our time together in collaboration with the wisdom-keepers of this territory, receiving their blessings and guidance as we enter into, and complete, our shared journey.
✾ Family Constellations, Contemplative, and Earth-Honoring Practices. To ignite and deepen your process of turning towards life and death meaningfully we will engage in powerful, regenerative, and integrative practices and rituals. The main facilitators and guest teachers will offer guided group ritual and therapeutic processes that support embodiment, connection, and the strengthening of your innate knowing.
✾ Two Ceremonies with Sacred Earth Medicines. Held with exquisite attunement, care and skilled guidance, our team of facilitators will offer ceremonial experiences that will support you to connect deeply with the wisdom of your inner teacher, the medicine of the earth, and the mystery.
✾ Cleansing with Plant Baths, the Spirit of Tobacco and Sweat Lodge. We will engage with energetic practices, including tobacco cleansings and plant baths, and an Andean sweat lodge to support greater clarity and protection as you move through your experience.
✾ Nourishing Meals & Spaciousness for Deep-Listening. Nourishing, thoughtfully prepared meals will be offered daily to support your body, mind and nervous system throughout the journey. There will also be spacious periods of rest and contemplation with yourself and the land, to listen deeply to, and receive, the medicine that is calling you.
Our Accomodation
The Source
The Source is an incredible private property surrounded by a stunning 100-foot waterfall, a tranquil river canyon, and majestic Andean peaks. This unique sanctuary sits underneath the sacred Apus of Pitusiray & Sawasiray, encompassed by the lush greenery of eucalyptus groves, fruit trees, and medicinal plants.
This one-of-a-kind haven in the Sacred Valley brings the best of both worlds together - offering a pristine ceremonial ground for inner-work, as well as world-class amenities to enjoy our journey together. At 10,000 feet above sea level, it offers breathtaking views, serene landscapes, and the chance to reconnect with nature in a setting steeped in Incan heritage.
We carefully selected this sanctuary because of the essence of tranquil beauty that it exudes, in tandem with the intentionality carried by the stewards of this specific land.

Lodging & AMENITIES
Our retreat space, The Source, comfortably hosts our group of 24 participants, including the facilitation team, and each participant will be sharing a room with another person (2 people per room). Laundry is included at no extra cost, as well as nutritious and delicious meals prepared on site every day (including dietary and allergy accommodations).
You will be welcome to roam the beautiful space and vibrant land on this large private property, surrounded by a plethora of medicinal plants, flowers, ancient Incan boulder-shrines, and lots of room to sit quietly on the earth and bask in the pristine energy that this location has to offer.
WHO is death wisdom for?
✾ Those wishing to deepen their relationship with death — individuals who feel called to turn toward death with curiosity, reverence, and courage, exploring mortality not only as an inevitable reality, but as a profound teacher for how we choose to live and prepare for the moment of death. Whether death feels frightening, distant, compelling, sacred, or simply difficult to comprehend, this retreat welcomes those willing to sit more closely with the questions that have accompanied human beings across time: What does it mean to die, and to die well? What does death ask of us? And how might remembering that we will die change the way we live?
✾ Those carrying grief, loss, and sorrow — whether connected to the death of someone beloved, ancestral or collective grief, significant endings, or sorrows that ask to be witnessed, this healing space is for you. Through grief ritual and communal practice, we will open the doors for grief to be honored, expressed, and held in the presence of others.
✾ Those moving through endings, thresholds, and life transitions — individuals encountering the death of an identity, relationship, role, dream, season of life, or way of being. Death Wisdom invites you to recognize these smaller deaths as meaningful thresholds and to listen for what they may be asking you to relinquish.
✾ Those longing to live more wholeheartedly in the presence of impermanence — individuals who sense that remembering the brevity and preciousness of life can clarify what truly matters. This retreat invites you to consider how an intimate relationship with death might awaken greater presence, courage, gratitude, and participation in the life you have been given.
✾ Those seeking a deeper relationship with their ancestors — individuals who wish to honor those who came before them, and explore their place within the larger continuum of lineage. Through ancestor-honoring practices, we will cultivate and deepen relationship with those whose lives and deaths form part of the ground upon which we stand.
✾ Those called to the Peruvian Andes for ceremonial and initiatory work — spiritual seekers who feel drawn to step outside the familiar, explore the vast Mystery and come into direct relationship with the sacred medicines of the earth.
This retreat has been intentionally designed with a rhythm of spaciousness and active participation—offering time to reflect and connect with yourself, the land, and fellow participants, alongside contemplative practices and rituals. We wish to name with care and clarity that this is not a vacation or a conventional “wellness retreat.” Rather, it is a journey that will likely stretch you, and include moments of discomfort, activation, or challenge. This retreat asks for a willingness to stay present within a shared group field, where edges and triggers can naturally arise, and to meet what emerges with curiosity, compassion, maturity, and self-responsibility. We are calling in participants whose hearts feel ready for full participation—those who are willing to sincerely engage their own personal process, while also tending the collective field we will be weaving together. This retreat asks for the courage to keep showing up, even when the terrain feels tender or unfamiliar. This is also not a retreat if you are completely new to introspection, soul work and spiritual practice - but is rather suited to those who are sincerely committed to their inner and outer work.
For more than 15 years, we have each been devoted to a path of personal healing and transformation, spiritual practice, and soul-led service. Throughout our committed partnership, our shared devotion to the exploration of consciousness has led us through sustained study and mentorship, traditional dietas, and initiatory experiences within Indigenous and mestizo traditions across several countries. These experiences continue to inform and shape our ceremonial practice with master plants and sacred medicines, alongside the lineage of AWE, which we have been entrusted and blessed to carry forth.
In 2022, we moved our life from Australia and made our home in the Sacred Valley of Peru, where we have continued to deepen our relationships with the land and its wisdom traditions.
We aim to create spaces of profound healing and transformation, accompanying you in reconnecting with your own innate wisdom and path, and empowering you to deepen your relationship with the Mystery of life. Our deepest intention is to support you to remember what it means to live with greater connection, authenticity, wholeness, and joy.

RAMON ALEMAN
Therapist & Teacher
Ramon Aleman has, from a young age, been gifted with a deep sensitivity, empathy, and an ability to make others feel comfortable and understood. This innate propensity inspired an early curiosity about humans, suffering, spirituality, and the mind–heart connection. He believes his medicine lies in his grounding presence and loving gentleness and has often been described as a “gentle warrior.”
His path has led him to explore many forms of meditation and contemplation, attend Lakota Sundance, journey on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, study yoga in India, learn from Maasai elders in Kenya, and complete a three-year training in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy with an emphasis on Indigenous wisdom.
He is honored to have traveled to and learned from plant medicine traditions in Gabon with the Babongo (Iboga), Mexico with the Wixárika (Peyote), and Ecuador with the Ai (Yagé).
Ramon is most passionate about soul work, rites of passage, and the transformation of suffering into wisdom.
Joan
Translator & Pilgrimage Support
Joan is a Cusqueño, a Peruvian local to Cusco, who has a background in psychology and anthropology. Through his experience of growing up as a modern Peruvian, he has gone through the long process of reconnecting to his roots - which is now where his passion lies.
For many years, he has been supporting indigenous communities and contributing to the regeneration of ancestral wisdom and traditional Andean knowledge.
Joan works closely with the Apaza family, acting as a bridge between their lineage wisdom and seekers who are called to connect with the well of treasures that these Q'ero elders generously offer.
He speaks fluent Quechua, Spanish, and some English.

This ceremonial retreat is limited to 24 participants.
We will begin with an opening ceremony, guided by our Q'ero elders.
During our retreat, we will offer two sacred medicine ceremonies.
These Mystery ceremonies will be led by the main facilitators, Alexandre and Alyona, and supported by the entire facilitation team including guest teachers. Participants will also be able to experience an Andean Sweat Lodge within the retreat.
The main facilitators and guest teachers will offer various integrative and contemplative practices, communal rituals, therapeutic explorations, and supportive group processes to enrich the embodied exploration of life, death, grief, and the Mystery.
Pricing & Inclusions

Early Bird Prices (Available until February 15, 2027 )
Shared Room (two person occupancy) = $3,250 per person (Deposit $1,000 USD wire transfer / Remaining payment of $2,250 due by, or before, April 15th, 2027).
General Prices (After February 16, 2027)
Shared Room (two person occupancy) = $3,500 per person (Deposit $1,ooo USD wise transfer / Remaining payment of $2,500 due on April 15th, 2027).
The Deposit is due upon acceptance (to secure your spot).
The Remaining Payment is due by, or before, April 15th, 2027.

Application Process
As Death Wisdom is a retreat involving deep inner inquiry and shared group process, we take great care in reviewing each application—attending to intentions, medical history, and overall suitability— to ensure a supportive and aligned experience for everyone involved. We warmly welcome participants from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, with a commitment to showing up with humility and a beginner's mind. If you feel called to join us for Death Wisdom, we invite you to apply through the application process below.
1. Complete the Application/Intake & Medical Form
This form helps us get to know you and your background context. We will also review your physical and psycho-spiritual suitability for the ceremonial retreat work, including the sacred earth medicines being offered.
2. Book A 30-Min Interview
This conversation offers space to meet members of the facilitation team, share your intentions and hopes for the retreat, ask any questions you may have, and supports our mutual discernment around fit and readiness.
3. Initial Acceptance
Following our review of your Application & Medical Form and the interview, you will receive an email confirming if you have been accepted. If you are accepted, you will be sent the Retreat Agreement & Waiver.
4. Sign the Retreat Agreement & Waiver, and Submit your Deposit
The Retreat Agreement & Waiver includes all relevant details and agreements, including policies related to participation, cancellation, and logistics. Once we receive your signed agreement and deposit, your place is officially reserved. You may then proceed with booking your flights.
5. Final Payment
The final payment is due on or before October 1st, 2026. Upon completion, your participation is fully confirmed, and you are all set for the retreat.
